The King and the Saint

The King and the Saint

The King and the Saint 1

Once there lived a king who was very selfish and proudy. Everyday, the king sacrificed an animal to earn penance. One day, a hermit came begging at the palace and he asked the cruel king for some thing to give him.

The King said that he had nothing to give to those people who just come for begging.

At this, the hermit said, “My Lord, you’re killing animals every day to earn penance. When you can’t give life to others, you have no right to take away life,” and he left.

The proudy king realised the truth of life and became the hermit’s disciple, giving away all the luxuries of life. Now, he understood the true meaning of life.
